Description

Sanjevani Calcium D-Glucarate is a patented form of D-glucarate (also known as D-glucaric acid), a naturally occurring substance in the body that is involved in the metabolism and disposal of toxins and excess hormones, such as estrogen. In the diet, D-glucarate is found primarily in fruits and vegetables such as apples, grapefruit, oranges, bean sprouts, and broccoli. It is also produced in small amounts in the body.

Sanjevani Calcium D-Glucarate  supports Phase II glucuronidation, a primary detoxification pathway that deactivates toxins and promotes their elimination. D-glucarate plays a vital protective role for the immune system by inhibiting the beta-glucuronidase enzyme that can otherwise interfere with safe removal of steroid hormones such as estrogen. Beta-glucuronidase enzymes are active throughout the body, especially in the liver, colon, lungs, skin, bladder, breast, and prostate.

Studies show that Calcium D-Glucarate supplementation supports healthy immune function, promotes estrogen metabolism, and enhances the body’s detoxification systems through inhibition of beta-glucuronidase, an enzyme that can interfere with normal hormone metabolism.

Upon ingestion, D-glucarate is slowly released from Calcium D-Glucarate and forms a compound that inhibits the enzyme beta-glucuronidase. This enzyme reduces the excretion of toxins and steroid hormones, including estrogen. Although beta-glucuronidase has some useful functions in the body, it can become overactive as a result of shifts in the gut microbiome, allowing toxins and hormones to be reabsorbed back into the body instead of being excreted.

The slow-release nature of Calcium D-Glucarate inhibits about 50% of the enzyme activity over a five-hour period, thus helping the body to safely remove undesirable amounts of estrogen and other compounds. Because beta-glucuronidase enzymes are present in the liver, kidney, spleen, intestines, reproductive organs, and many other tissues, the beneficial actions of Calcium D-Glucarate may occur throughout the body.

For general daily use, 1 500 mg capsule daily is sometimes recommended. Research on Calcium D-Glucarate demonstrating inhibition of beta-glucuronidease begins with amounts of 1,500 mg per day and goes up to 9 grams per day. Individuals with higher environmental exposures, or increased needs to metabolize estrogen or other hormones, can take 3 or more capsules per day.
