Sanjevani Zinc Carnosine 75 + Glutamine provides these two key synergistic GI supporting ingredients:

• Zinc L-carnosine complex: This unique, patented compound (the same as the Rx from Japan that is given for gastritis and other GI conditions) combines the essential mineral zinc with L-carnosine, a naturally-occurring substance with potent antioxidant and tissue-protecting activity. Research indicates zinc L-carnosine has numerous attributes that support the integrity of the gastrointestinal lining. The antioxidant activity of zinc L-carnosine can help enable the gastric and intestinal mucosa to better heal and support itself against free radical damage that may occur from environmental toxins. By favorably modulating the activity of certain inflammation-promoting compounds, zinc L-carnosine also helps protect sensitive gastrointestinal tissue from irritation and inflammation that can adversely affect tissue health and intestinal comfort. Zinc L-carnosine can further protect the stomach and intestines from injury by promoting healthy mucus secretions that lubricate the passage of food and defend against the erosive effects of natural stomach acids. Zinc L-carnosine 75 has been shown in multiple clinical trials to help protect the stomach lining and promote gastrointestinal comfort.^† Studies show zinc carnosine promotes healthy mucus secretion, exerts antioxidant properties, and modulates cytokine expression, thus helping protect the stomach and small intestine. • L-Glutamine: The most common free amino acid in the bloodstream, L-glutamine is the principal dietary fuel of the intestinal cells lining the small intestine and plays an important role in cellular repair and maintaining healthy gastrointestinal function. L-glutamine is essential for the normal function of intestinal immune cells and increases the secretion of protective bowel immune gamma globulins (IgA). It also decreases intestinal permeability ("leaky gut") and has been shown to limit mucosal barrier damage by inhibiting production of inflammation promoting compounds. Although people are normally able to make enough L-glutamine to meet the body's demands, insults to the gastrointestinal tract from illness, trauma, surgery and other factors markedly increase utilization of L-glutamine for intestinal repair.   L-glutamine promotes small intestinal cell function and mucosal integrity to further support gastric function and protect tissues.Supplementation with L-glutamine can help ensure adequate intake to meet the increased demands of the body and provide support and protection for the intestinal lining.
